Stonington Institute provides inpatient detoxification, residential rehabilitation, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) with a sober living residence, and outpatient services for adults who struggle with addiction or a co-occurring mental health issue. If you or a loved one needs help, Stonington Institute is here for you.
Stonington Institute has been a trusted partner in recovery from substance abuse issues for over 60 years. In 1957, we began serving people who struggle with alcoholism and addiction under the name Starlight Farms. The main campus in North Stonington, Connecticut, was operated as a fruit and vegetable farm by a WWII fighter pilot who lived on the property with his family until his children left the farm. The property was sold to a neighbor who was among the founders of the AA movement in Connecticut and who created a program where alcoholics could work the farm and learn the 12 Steps.
This rich tradition of 12 Step-based recovery continues to be the cornerstone of Stonington’s treatment programs. On this foundation, Stonington has built programs that treat alcoholism, drug addiction, PTSD and co-occurring mental health issues that so often complicate lasting recovery for the individual and family. We also offer a military program for active duty members and veterans to help treat substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Stonington Institute’s Detox Program is designed to help clients stabilize from the effects of drugs and alcohol in a medically-supervised environment. Our goal is to promote safety for our clients during this process, then help them better understand the disease of addiction and solidify a long-term recovery plan.
For those who are ready for a step down from inpatient detox, we offer day treatment through an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Lodging is available through the Inn at Trails Corner.
The Starlight Military Program is dedicated to active duty military members and veterans whose lives have changed and become unmanageable due to significant substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mental health issues.
